A recent trip to Disneyland’s “Innoventions” attraction really woke me up to the magnitude of exactly how much weight I really lost.

While the first part of the attraction is more or less a commercial for a homebuilding company and what they are capable of creating for the consumer, there was much more going on inside the former home of “America Sings.” And take note that the image on the left may not be for the squeamish, but it’ll make you think!

What you see there is not some kind of insulating material for your home, but I guess it may qualify as personal insulation.

Those small to large blobs are actually a representation of what 5, 10, 15 and 20 lbs. of fat looks like. While it may be hard to gauge the size of the things since there really isn’t anything to compare them to, I think the image alone speaks volumes. Let’s just say that the size of the 20 lb. blob on the bottom boggled my mind the rest of the day.

I know it’s rare for me to leave an image full-size on the blog, but I think this one truly deserves to be. And just to put things in perspective, guys, I lost nearly 5 of the blobs on the bottom. So the next time you feel like stuffing your face with fatty foods, I dare you NOT to remember this image. I know I’ll remember it for a long time!

Ah, onto my progress. I’m still hovering between 199.5 and 202 lbs. I think this is more than enough wiggle room as I refuse to let myself go higher than 205 lbs. That’s just not happening. After the holidays, naturally I will concentrate my efforts on getting to 190 lbs. or so but for now, resting in the evening instead is doing me good :) I hope you all are sticking to your programs as well!

Oh, and I cleaned out some more of my clothes from the closet ranging from size 40 to 48 in pants, and XXL and XL dress shirts. It worked out well since Ann hit Old Navy the other day and found some polo shirts (for work) in my new size at the amazingly low price of 99 cents each! Pants were a bit more costly at a price of $7 each; shorts were $2. In total, she spent about $25 for a bunch of new clothes for me.

So while I’m glad to have more room in there for clothes I truly need, I think a garage sale is now in order for the ones I don’t!

Workplace Recognition

I was taken by surprise today when I got an e-mail from one of my co-workers asking me if I was doing anything for lunch.

It turns out that she, along with the other people in my department, wanted to take me to lunch to celebrate reaching my weight loss goal.

I explained that while I was happy to lose the weight, I’d rather they take me when I reached 100 lbs. lost. But I said what the heck and eventually gave in to thier demands.

We ended up going to a local Mexican restaurant which we frequent for special occasions. And I enjoyed my lunch very much: a burrito with chorizo, egg, beans and rice. The thing was big; so big that I didn’t even eat dinner tonight.

So here I lay composing this post with my iPod Touch with my stomach still full. If I gain anything as a result, I’ll gladly take it. The food was good and it was ultra-cool that they offered to take me to lunch.

Thanks, guys!

Update on Things

Hey gang, just thought I’d update you on my progress so far.

Food. Since reaching my goal last Saturday, things have been going fantastic. In fact, today is the first day I didn’t use my Weight Watchers Points Excel chart since I created the thing. I’ve decided to stop using it since after over two years, I pretty much know how many Points are in everything I eat, or I just simply avoid the things I know I shouldn’t be eating. I’m keeping my snacking to a minimum and whenever I feel the urge to munch on something, I grab a bottle of water instead or have one cookie rather than a handful.

Weight. My weight has been right around 199.8 lbs. and 201 lbs. and that’s just fine with me. I may have gone as high as 202 lbs. but as long as I don’t drift any higher than that I think I’ll be fine. As previously stated, I plan on getting down to 190 lbs. or so that I have some wiggle room between that and my original goal of 200 lbs. but for now, I’m happy being able to maintain my goal weight.

Exercise. Aside from some walking and running around I did with the kid at Disneyland, my exercise routine has been put aside since reaching my goal. My Wii Fit may start missing me :) No, I’m not getting lazy; I’m simply enjoying my achievement and being able to finally take it easy at night after putting Anthony to bed. And because I took Friday and Monday off from work, I haven’t walked my daily 1.5 miles during lunch. That will change tomorrow when I return.

It seems as though my years of food discipline have truly paid off as I find myself not wanting a lot of the foods I used to eat or eating much less of them. For example, we had Little Caesar’s today for lunch and I had only two slices. That’s it–two slices versus the usual 3 or 4 I would have eating when I was nearly 300 lbs.

And for what it’s worth, here’s a progress picture of me taken at Disneyland the day I reached my goal:

199.9 lbs.

Finally: 199.9 lbs. Click to enlarge.

It may not show the best example of my weight loss but hey, at least it was taken on the day of victory.

In addition to all of this, I’ve decided to abandon the Weekly Weigh-Ins simply because there wouldn’t be much to report if I keep maintaining my weight. I’ll definitely keep watching my weight and will report as needed but for now, they are history.

Once again, thanks to all who have been checking in on things. I am still in the process of getting my products Thank You List together so watch for that soon.

See ya, and hang in there!
